We’ve had our Bouvier Gracie (nee Gigi) for about a month now and she’s fitting in just great. We decided to change her name to something a little harder sounding and the ‘GR’ sound of Gracie has actually made a big difference. She actually responds great now!
She’s still a pup and so our 2 older dogs have been helping her learn how to act in our pack and she is really doing well (aside from the herding instinct making her chase and nip at my dogs butts which is driving them crazy).
Yesterday I decided to try throwing all 3 dogs in the back of our truck together for the first time and it went beautifully. We drove to the shore and the tide was just starting to come in. I kept Gracie on-leash at first but then let her off very comfortable that she’d stay with her pack. She was awesome and loved playing with the dogs and my girls and me in the water. It’s hysterical to see this pup try to keep up with our dog Maggie. There’s no way! Maggie’s so fast it amazing! We only stayed for about a half hour because I didn’t want to risk the dogs getting heat-stroke. So we went home and bathed all 3 dogs with cool water in the shade. What a great day. Happy dogs, happy kids, happy me! (And a happy hubby who was off golfing.)
I have pretty much taken the summer off from my photography. The big move from Montreal to Prince Edward Island, renovating a century+ farm house, retraining a racehorse, getting a third dog, being a mommy and working as a designer have kept me crazy-busy. Not to mention the endless late-night campfires around here! There have been some shows I could have had a booth at but that’s takes time that I just haven’t had. The market here is different from Montreal and my stock dog photography segment may become more predominant. I can see adding farm life photography to my work as well. And we still have to renovate the studio which will be fantastic. I can’t wait for that! Thanks so much to everyone for sticking with me on this crazy adventure. xo
