Heather Ogg Photography & Design bio picture
  • Welcome to Heather Ogg’s Blog

Come see what I've been up to. Mostly dogs, horses, and country life. Thanks for dropping by!

Heather Ogg is a passionate designer, photographer, musician, and self-proclaimed creative-junkie. Her 20 years as a designer has given her photography a very distinct creative style. Although she specializes in dog photography, Heather also enjoys portraiture, landscapes, product photography and loves vintage work.

Before becoming a professional designer and photographer, Heather was a veterinary assistant with aspirations of becoming a dog trainer. Her extensive knowledge of dog behavior creates a fun photo experience producing beautiful photos that you will treasure for years to come.

Heather believes in being thankful and giving back. She volunteers her design services to EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding for people with disabilities in Virginia and the SPCA Monteregie south of Montreal.

Heather grew up in Montreal, Canada, where she studied Creative Arts, Illustration & Design, and Photography. This multi-talented visual artist’s career spans Montreal design studios, the corporate world and B2B with Bombardier and Pratt & Whitney Canada, and the wide-ranging challenges of her own creative design and photography business. Heather’s work earned International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Communicator of the Year Ovation Awards in 2003 and 2004.

You’ll find Heather, Derek, daughters Sarah and Lindsay, and their dogs and horses enjoying their new old farm in North Wiltshire, PEI.

Candy & Belle

So what happens you get lost on PEI? People take you in, feed you and talk horses. Actually I wasn’t quite lost, I just thought I was on my way somewhere to photograph minis only to find out it was way on the other side of the island. So what happens when you feed me? I photograph your horses. LOL. Gina and Bill we very gracious and we had a great visit. Horse trainer Gina gave me some very welcomed advice about horses as we strolled through her field. She is also an awesome singer, song writer and painter. Here are her beauties Candy and Belle. Enjoy!

Cirque du Soleil comes to the Island

Imagine my excitement, as a creative-junkie and Montrealer, when I heard that Cirque du Soleil was coming to Charlottetown! They have created a show just for Prince Edward Island and are to have three performances during SummerFest which is to include a parade through the streets leading down to Confederation Landing. Imagine. I was so happy to have been invited along with my TechnoMedia team to the the press conference and luncheon where we got a sneak peak of what’s to come. I cannot express how much I love the arts and being surrounded by such creativity. Just as Islanders have so much to be proud of, I feel a connection and pride because Cirque is from my hometown. I can’t thank the people of Cirque du Soleil enough for coming to our island, and the people of Prince Edward Island for consistently recognizing the importance of the arts.

Brent - yeah, I could do that. =)

Stephen - Very nice. Great opportunity to see him off stage.

Ollie

Since we moved to the farm we have had 2 dogs show up. Both Labs. The first one we came across one night on our road in a blizzard. Thinking it was our black Lab Charlotte we got the dog into our truck only to discover half way up our driveway that it wasn’t our dog! He stayed with us for two days until his mom came and picked him up.

This time Ollie the chocolate Lab walked up our driveway and we were all instantly in love with her. We love chocolate! She was a keeper if not claimed. Of course we did our thing and posted signs at the local general store and called the radio stations and humane society. Two days later Ollie’s mom came and got her, very appreciative that we’d taken care of her baby.

Living in the country, a lot of folks let their dogs roam. Both times we found dogs, we were unsure if we should keep them. The culture is different in the country and some people can be bothered if you keep their dog and would prefer that you would let them wonder home. But we don’t let dogs wonder so if your dog should happen to cross our path, they will be taken in and cared for until we find you.

Here are some photos of the very wonderful Ollie the chocolate Lab who made us smile for two wonderful days.

Brent - I love chocolate labs too but I’ve never seen one with eyes like that. Kinda beady. =)

ChantaleP - What a cutie! He looks so happy. Probably cuz he gets to roam so much! Oh Heather, you’re such a good mommy! : )

Courtney

A few pics from my wonderful niece Courtney’s High School Prom. She and her gang were to arrive at the waterfront on a double decker bus, which we did see drive by, however never showed up. We followed in hot pursuit via Courtney’s texts to me and chased a double-decker bus to Victoria Park where I literally ran after the bus, camera in hand, trying to catch it as it drove off. It was hilarious. They gathered at Charlottetown’s Province house before doing the traditional ‘walk about’ in front of a huge crowd, into the Confederation Centre for their Prom Night dance after which they were to camp out in a farmer’s field. They sure do go crazy here for prom. EVERYONE comes out to see the kids. Very exciting.

ChantaleP - Those are.. prom dresses they’re wearing?! Wow, it’s a long way from the friperie dress I got for 30 bucks. I don’t understand the ‘parade’ thing for prom there. lol. Ah well, small community so I guess this is their way of showing support to the teens. They sure do look beautiful though! Can’t be just the amazing photography.. ;p
